Good habits at home are essential to preserve your extensions and the health of your hair. Here are some tips and recommendations for taking care of your extensions and extending their lifespan.
Following your appointment
Wait 48 hours before washing your hair and avoid saunas, steam, high-intensity workouts, and excessive heat. Also, avoid handling the attachments unnecessarily. For the first two weeks, opt for loose hairstyles and avoid ponytails, buns, and overly tight styles.
Washing and drying
Use a gentle, moisturizing shampoo (sulfate-free) and gently massage the scalp before rinsing thoroughly. Apply conditioner or mask only to the lengths and ends, avoiding heavy oils and protein-rich products.
Always dry the roots and attachments completely using moderate heat. Never sleep with wet hair.
Brushing and styling
Brush your hair 2 to 3 times a day, starting at the ends and gently working your way up to the roots. To avoid pulling on the attachments, hold your hair near the root while brushing and use a brush designed for extensions, without ball-tipped bristles.
You can then style your hair as usual, whether with a flat iron or a hot brush. However, make sure to always use a heat protectant and avoid applying heat directly to the attachments.
