Coffee Recipes to Try Out This Summer

Nothing beats a cup of your usual coffee, but spicing it up and trying new recipes is always a fun adjustment. Here at PINKLABLONDE, we’ve created a unique house blend served both in salon and available to purchase for your home! The coffee itself comes from Guatemala and can be bought in both grain and ground format. It features delicate notes of hazelnut and fruits, while being a medium dark roast, light on acidity. While considering our house blend’s flavours, here are some recipes to turn a simple coffee into refreshing treats for this summer.

Coconut Milk Iced Coffee

Ingredients for a single serving:

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • Coconut milk
  • Ice
  • (optional) caramel

Start off with a glass full of ice, add in your desired amount of coconut milk, and top it off with 2 shots of espresso. If you enjoy your coffees on the sweeter side, line the sides of your glass with caramel before adding in the ice.

While other milk alternatives such as almond or oat milk are commonly used for coffees, coconut milk is a great way to add flavour to your coffee without added sugar. Plus, coconut milk pairs well with the soft hazelnut notes of our coffee!

Coffee Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of coffee
  • 3 cups of boiling water
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ cup honey (or agave nectar)

Equipment:

  • French press

IMO a French press is the simplest way to make cold brew at home, but you can swap it out for a large jar and cheese cloth if you’re in a pinch.

Due to the preparation of the cold brew, this recipe will take up to 18 hours to prepare. Start by adding 1 cup of coffee and 3 cups of boiling water into a French press. Add the lid without pressing down, let sit in fridge for 12 to 16 hours.

Once desired strength is achieved, press down on the machine, and mix ¼ cup of cold brew with orange juice, lemon juice, and honey. Fill a glass with ice, pour in your caffeinated lemonade, and serve!

Hazelnut Affogato

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • 2 scoops of vanilla bean gelato
  • Hazelnut syrup
  • 2 tsp crushed roasted hazelnuts
  • (optional) caramel

Refreshing, decadent, and comforting, this simple recipe will surprise any coffee aficionado’s taste buds. All you need to add in a small bowl is 2 scoops of gelato with 2 shots of espresso poured over top. Top it all off with hazelnut syrup and a few crushed hazelnuts. If you want to push this recipe to its ultimate dessert potential, adding a light drizzle of caramel will help wrap all the flavours together.

Once you try this recipe, it’ll become a classic go-to afternoon coffee dessert, guaranteed!
